# Airwallex Guide

The multi-currency account for your UK LTD and HK company — Global Accounts for payouts, transfers to your supplier, virtual cards for subscriptions.

{% hint style="info" %}
**What Airwallex is for you.** A multi-currency wallet with local bank details in many countries. Shopify Payments, Stripe and PayPal pay out to its Global Accounts, you pay your supplier from it, and its virtual cards pay for subscriptions.
{% endhint %}

## Before you start

* **Proxy.** Open Airwallex only through its own [OctoBrowser](https://octobrowser.org/signup/?p=10266582) profile with a residential proxy in the **nominee's** country from [IPRoyal](https://iproyal.com/?r=basiq_setup) — not GonzoProxy, which does not open bank websites. If the login still fails, use your mobile proxy ([a-socks](https://asocks.com/c/5eB0tn)). See [IPRoyal](/guide/guides/proxy-guide/iproyal.md).
* **Your details.** Right after delivery move the mobile number, login email and 2FA to yours ([section 5](#5-your-details-and-2fa)). Use the company's dedicated number.
* **Two interfaces.** If your left menu shows **Business Accounts**, you are on the new Airwallex: menu names below are given as *old path (new path)*.

## 1. Global Accounts

A Global Account is a set of local bank details in a country — UK sort code and account number for GBP, IBAN for EUR, and so on. Payouts sent to it land in your multi-currency wallet. Shopify Payments, Stripe and PayPal each get their own Global Account, and **Shopify Payments always gets a brand-new one** that was never used in Shopify before ([Shopify Payments guide, section 2.4](/guide/guides/shopify-payments-warm-up.md)).

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Wallet → Global accounts

(New interface: Business Accounts → Borderless cash account → Global Accounts.)

![Airwallex — Wallet → Global accounts](https://1489073001-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FMi3FIHpdc5cNtmqjAPOo%2Fuploads%2Fio9lCdoYaZbMgIA6s4Id%2Fairwallex-1-wallet-global-accounts.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Create Global Account

The button is at the top right of the Global Accounts page.

![Airwallex — Create Global Account](https://1489073001-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FMi3FIHpdc5cNtmqjAPOo%2Fuploads%2FN5frd70udFkNhp8P8yAK%2Fairwallex-2-create-global-account.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Choose the country

**United Kingdom** for a GBP account (Shopify Payments, UK Stripe payouts). The right-hand panel shows what the account can receive: Faster Payments, CHAPS, BACS and international SWIFT, plus Bacs direct debit for payouts. For EUR choose Netherlands or Germany; Hong Kong SAR gives HKD, CNY, USD and more in one account.

![Airwallex — United Kingdom and its account capabilities](https://1489073001-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FMi3FIHpdc5cNtmqjAPOo%2Fuploads%2FUxKlGU41QtWbla3Y9yic%2Fairwallex-3-united-kingdom.png?alt=media)

![Airwallex — all Global Account locations](https://1489073001-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FMi3FIHpdc5cNtmqjAPOo%2Fuploads%2FJclt0V28Fnp5W5SQb35V%2Fairwallex-choose-location.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Nickname → Create Global Account

Name it after the platform and the store, for example `Shopify – yourstore.com`. Most accounts are created instantly; some show *Processing* for up to 72 hours while the banking partner reviews them. Only *Active* accounts can receive funds.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Open the account → Show all details

Account name, account number, sort code / bank code, IBAN and SWIFT, bank name and the **bank address** — use that address as the beneficiary address when a platform asks for one. The **Account capabilities** panel lists the currencies and payment methods the account accepts: check it matches how the platform pays out (Shopify Payments pays GBP by local transfer).

![Airwallex — account details and account capabilities](https://1489073001-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FMi3FIHpdc5cNtmqjAPOo%2Fuploads%2FtyeCAJWtBMa11fCv1ByN%2Fairwallex-account-details.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Paste the details into the platform

Shopify Payments: Settings → Payments → Shopify Payments → Manage → payout bank account. Stripe: Settings → Bank accounts and currencies. The account holder is your company name.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Do not reuse a Global Account across two Shopify stores — Shopify matches bank details across all stores and flags linked profiles. One new account per store.
{% endhint %}

## 2. Payment verification

Airwallex can ask about incoming funds the same way WorldFirst does. If you see a request for documents, a source-of-funds question or a hold, contact your manager before replying — we prepare the answer together.

## 3. Pay your supplier

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Add the supplier: Transfers → Contacts → New recipient

Choose **Business** or **Individual**, the recipient's bank location and currency, then **Local** (same-country rail, usually faster and cheaper) or **SWIFT**. Enter the details exactly as on the supplier's invoice and click **Create**. Cross-border transfers need the recipient's address.

![Airwallex — Contacts → New recipient](https://1489073001-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FMi3FIHpdc5cNtmqjAPOo%2Fuploads%2Fr8c7nRGHOEAXW1tmISN4%2Fairwallex-recipients.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Send: Transfer → Transfer to an external payee

**From account** (your funded wallet) → **Select payee** → enter the amount in *You pay exactly* or *Recipient gets* → transfer date *Immediately* → Continue.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Purpose and reference → Create

Choose a purpose of transfer, add a reference the supplier will see (invoice number), then **Create**. Track it under **Transfers**: completed, pending, blocked or failed.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Pay suppliers from the company account only. Never send money from the nominee company straight to your personal bank ([Step 7 → Payouts](/guide/setup-steps/step-7-credentials.md)).
{% endhint %}

## 4. Cards

Airwallex virtual cards are the company's cards for Shopify billing, OctoBrowser, proxies and ad accounts. Shopify matches card details across stores too, so every store gets its own card. Only an Admin user can create cards.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Cards → Create card

![Airwallex — Cards menu](https://1489073001-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FMi3FIHpdc5cNtmqjAPOo%2Fuploads%2F2hfGibkPs9MZP70ky1ma%2Fairwallex-4-cards-menu.png?alt=media)

![Airwallex — My Cards → Create card](https://1489073001-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FMi3FIHpdc5cNtmqjAPOo%2Fuploads%2FJyOYbbDQYS2YRh90iEYr%2Fairwallex-5-create-card.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Card type: Company card

Virtual, for software subscriptions and vendor spend. Tick *single-use* only for a one-off payment or a free trial — it stops working after one successful transaction. Employee cards are for travel and expenses — not needed here.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Nickname and spend limit

Name it after the store (`Shopify billing – yourstore.com`). Set the limit: amount, the currency the limit is counted in (the card still pays in any currency), and how often it resets — daily, weekly (Mondays), monthly (1st), quarterly, yearly or all-time. Limits reset at midnight UTC and unused limit does not roll over.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Advanced controls (optional) → create

Date limits and allowed transaction types. Then copy the card number, expiry and CVC into the platform's billing page.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## 5. Your details and 2FA

| What                    | Where                                                           | How                                                                                                                                             |

| 2FA | Profile → Password & authentication → Two-factor authentication | Set up an authenticator app, make it the default (⋯ → Set as default), change the OTP mobile number (⋯ next to Mobile one-time password → Edit) |
| Company contact details | Settings → Organisation → Accounts → Contact information → Edit | Admin or Owner role only |

## 6. If something goes wrong

| Situation                                               | What to do                                                                                                                                                     |
| ------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Login fails or Airwallex asks for extra checks | You are probably on a GonzoProxy IP. Switch the profile to an IPRoyal residential proxy (nominee's country) or your mobile proxy, restart it, run the IP check |
| Global Account stuck on "Processing" | Normal for up to 72 hours. After that, contact your manager — we ask Airwallex support |
| Shopify rejects the bank account | The account was used in Shopify before, or the capabilities do not include local GBP transfers. Create a new Global Account |
| Airwallex asks for documents, a call or source of funds | Contact your manager before replying |
| OTP not arriving | Check the number in Krispcall; then [Help Center → Lost access & OTP](/help-center/troubleshooting/lost-access-and-otp.md) |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.basiq-solutions.com/guide/guides/banks/airwallex.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
