# Mercury Guide

The US LLC bank — account and routing numbers for Stripe and Shopify Payments, incoming payment times, paying suppliers at home and abroad, cards.

{% hint style="info" %}
**What Mercury is for you.** The bank account of your US LLC: Stripe and Shopify Payments pay out to it by ACH, you pay suppliers in the US and abroad from it, and its cards pay for subscriptions.
{% endhint %}

## Before you start

* **Proxy.** One [OctoBrowser](https://octobrowser.org/signup/?p=10266582) profile for Mercury, residential proxy in the **United States** ([IPRoyal](https://iproyal.com/?r=basiq_setup)). Never from a regular browser, never through the proxy of another service.
* **Your details.** If the LLC is in a nominee name, move the login email and phone to yours right after delivery ([section 5](#5-your-details-and-security)). Save the backup codes from the delivery message first.
* **Partner banks.** Mercury is not a bank itself: your account sits at a partner bank (Choice Financial Group or Column N.A.). That bank's name appears on your account details — it is correct, give it to the platform as shown.

## 1. Account and routing numbers

Stripe and Shopify Payments pay out by ACH to your **routing number + account number**. Both are on page 1 of the Wire Details PDF.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Accounts → the receiving account → Documents → Wire Details

Confirm the account and **Download** the PDF. Page 1: domestic wires, ACH and real-time payments — this is what Stripe and Shopify need. Page 2: international wires (for payers outside the US).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Or: Move Money → Deposit → View More Details

Shows the same details on screen; copy them, download the PDF or **Share** them by email.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Paste them into the platform

Shopify Payments: Settings → Payments → Shopify Payments → Manage → bank account (routing + account number, account holder = the LLC's legal name). Stripe: Settings → Bank accounts and currencies.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

| Money coming in | How long it takes |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Domestic wire                                             | 0–1 business day                                                                                           |
| ACH (Stripe, Shopify Payments, a linked external account) | ACH pulls from a linked account take 3–5 business days; platform payouts arrive on the platform's schedule |
| International wire                                        | 1–4 business days                                                                                          |
| Check deposit (mobile app) | 1–5 business days |
| Payment request sent to a payer | Depends on how the payer pays |

Only users with full *Move Money* permissions see every deposit option.

## 2. Payment verification

Mercury can ask about a transaction, the business or its owners at any time — contact your manager before answering. Never send company documents on your own.

## 3. Pay your supplier

### In the US (ACH, check or wire)

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Move Money → Send (or Payments → Send Money)

Pick an existing recipient, **Create recipient** with the bank details from the invoice, or **Invite recipient** so the supplier enters their own details.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Payment method → ACH, check or wire

Choose it in the Recipients section. ACH is the default for US suppliers.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Amount, paying account, send date → Details → Send Payment

Add a memo or attach the invoice; add an email to receive a receipt. **Schedule Payment** if the date is in the future; you can make it recurring.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Abroad (international wire)

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Move Money → Send → recipient → International Wire → currency

USD or one of 40+ local currencies, to 200+ countries.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Enter the SWIFT code first, then the rest

The form changes with the recipient's country; add the IBAN when asked. Add an intermediary bank only if the supplier instructs you to. A mistake here gets the wire rejected and returned days later.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Amount and fee structure

**SHA**: intermediary fees are deducted from what the supplier receives. **OUR**: you pay them and the supplier gets the full amount.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Purpose, documents, review

Describe what the payment is for; for some countries Mercury asks for an invoice or contract and whether you will pay this recipient again. Wires process in 1–3 days and can take up to 5 working days to arrive.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
International wires are available only to companies with a US legal address, and not to or from blocked countries (Russia, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and others). Payments from the LLC are the final step of the profit chain — route the nominee companies' money through it only in the structure agreed with your manager.
{% endhint %}

## 4. Cards

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Cards → the card → reveal the details

Click the masked digits to reveal the number, click again to copy; the billing address is right under the card limit. In the app: Cards tab → the card → View Details → copy.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Only the cardholder sees the card

If you cannot reveal a card, it was issued to another user. Ask your manager who the card is issued to in a nominee setup.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## 5. Your details and security

| What                    | Where in Mercury                                                                                  |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Backup codes for 2FA | Settings → Security → backup codes. Save them with the ones from your delivery message |
| Login email | Settings → update your email address (verified through the new inbox) |
| Owners and team members | Settings → Team → add or remove owners / users. Add your own user, do not share the nominee login |
| Security keys           | Settings → Security → add a security key (optional, strongest 2FA)                                |

## 6. If something goes wrong

| Situation                                        | What to do                                                                                                                   |
| ------------------------------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Login blocked or extra verification at login | Wrong proxy or a new device. Open Mercury only from its own OctoBrowser profile with the US residential proxy |
| Shopify or Stripe cannot verify the bank account | Check the routing number is the ACH one from page 1 of the Wire Details and the account holder is the LLC's exact legal name |
| Mercury asks about a transaction or the business | Contact your manager before answering |
| A wire was returned | Usually a wrong SWIFT or IBAN. Re-check the invoice details and send again; ask your manager if it is returned twice |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.basiq-solutions.com/guide/guides/banks/mercury.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
