# Wise Guide

The additional bank for a UK LTD — GBP and EUR account details for payouts, paying suppliers, and the one proxy rule that keeps the account alive.

{% hint style="info" %}
**What Wise is for you.** An additional bank for the UK LTD: account details in GBP, EUR and USD that Shopify Payments and Stripe can pay out to, and a simple way to pay suppliers abroad.
{% endhint %}

## Before you start

* **Proxy.** Wise opens only through an [IPRoyal](https://iproyal.com/?r=basiq_setup) **residential proxy in the nominee's country** — the same rule as every bank. GonzoProxy IPs do not work with Wise. One [OctoBrowser](https://octobrowser.org/signup/?p=10266582) profile, used for Wise only ([IPRoyal guide](/guide/guides/proxy-guide/iproyal.md)).
* **Your details.** Right after delivery, move the 2FA phone to your company's number ([Step 7](/guide/setup-steps/step-7-credentials.md)).
* **Payouts.** Wise only receives; payout timing is set in Stripe (manual) and Shopify Payments (daily).

## 1. Account details

Wise "account details" are bank details for one currency: GBP (sort code + account number), EUR (IBAN), USD (routing + account number, available only in some regions). Give the platform the **domestic** set — it is faster and the platform pays no international fees. The SWIFT set is for payers abroad.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Home → + → choose the currency

GBP, EUR or USD. Then **Get account details**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### First time: complete the requirements

For a business account Wise charges a one-time fee for the *first* set of details in most regions (paid by card; refunded if the business cannot be verified). Every further currency is free.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Find them later under Payments

Open the currency → the account number → copy the domestic details, or download them to share.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Paste them into the platform

Shopify Payments: Settings → Payments → Shopify Payments → Manage. Stripe: Settings → Bank accounts and currencies. Account holder = your company name exactly as shown in Wise.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

| Currency | Can receive                                                                                                 | Cannot receive                                                                    |
| -------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **GBP** | Faster Payments, Bacs, CHAPS from the UK; SWIFT from abroad (payments in 22 other currencies arrive as GBP) | Cash, cheques |
| **EUR** | SEPA transfers in EUR; SWIFT in EUR, AUD, CAD, GBP, JPY, USD | SWIFT in other currencies, cash, cheques |
| **USD** | ACH and domestic wires from the US; wires from abroad | Not available in every region — then receive USD through your GBP details (SWIFT) |

Up to **10 sets of details per currency** on a UK-registered business, so every platform and store can have its own. Wrong or mismatched details (ACH vs SWIFT, a typo in the IBAN) delay or cancel the transfer — copy, never retype.

## 2. Payment verification

Wise may ask where a payment came from or request documents about the business. Contact your manager before uploading anything — we prepare the answer together.

## 3. Pay your supplier

**Send** → add the recipient with the bank details from the supplier's invoice (IBAN + SWIFT for most suppliers) → amount and currency → confirm with 2FA. Pay from the company account only, never from the nominee company straight to your personal bank ([Step 7 → Payouts](/guide/setup-steps/step-7-credentials.md)).

## 4. If something goes wrong

| Situation                                | What to do                                                                                                                                                           |
| ---------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Wise will not open or logs you out | You are not on your IPRoyal residential proxy (nominee's country). Fix the proxy in the Wise profile, restart it, run the IP check |
| "Account details inactive" | Wise deactivates details when the registered address moves to an unsupported country — do not change the address; contact your manager |
| A platform refuses the details | Check you gave the domestic set (sort code + account number for GBP, IBAN for EUR) and the exact account holder name |
| Wise asks for documents or a video check | Contact your manager first |
| 2FA code not arriving | Check the number in [Krispcall](https://try.krispcall.com/d0ye9ovwwn8s); then [Help Center → Lost access & OTP](/help-center/troubleshooting/lost-access-and-otp.md) |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.basiq-solutions.com/guide/guides/banks/wise.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
