# 5. Bank & payment setup

We open the bank account and payment processors. Your job is to stay reachable and not to touch anything.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Basiq:** opens the bank account(s) and the payment processors in your package, passes all required verifications, and builds the placeholder website.\
**You:** respond to requests within 2 business days and do not interfere.
{% endhint %}

## What happens in this phase

* The business bank account is opened — WorldFirst for a UK LTD (approval expected in all cases; how to use it: [WorldFirst Guide](/guide/guides/banks/worldfirst.md)); at least one bank for HK ([Currenxie](/guide/guides/banks/currenxie.md) or [Airwallex](/guide/guides/banks/airwallex.md)); one of [Mercury](/guide/guides/banks/mercury.md) / Airwallex / Relay / Slash for a US LLC. All bank guides: [Banks](/guide/guides/banks.md)
* Payment processors are registered and connected to the store (Stripe, Shopify Payments, Hong Kong PayPal — as agreed)
* A placeholder website is built by Basiq (included in every setup) — you do not need to create a store yourself
* All verifications required to deliver the setup are passed by Basiq — see [Replacement & verification](/guide/policies/replacement-and-verification.md) for what happens after delivery

## Your rules during this phase

| ❌ Do not                                               | ✅ Do                                                                                                                                        |
| ------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Change Shopify or payment processor credentials | Respond to manager requests within 2 business days |
| Add new phone numbers or emails unless instructed | Keep your proxy and [OctoBrowser](https://octobrowser.org/signup/?p=10266582) profiles ready ([Step 3](/guide/setup-steps/step-3-proxy.md)) |
| Contact banks or platforms on behalf of the company | HK setups: contact your assigned PayPal rep via WhatsApp Business **using the nominee name** — your manager gives you the contact |
| Take any action related to the setup unless instructed | Keep the documents from [Step 4](/guide/setup-steps/step-4-documents.md) at hand |

{% hint style="warning" %}
No response for 2 days pauses the project. Required data not provided within 10 days cancels it — a restart means new timelines. Unauthorised actions during setup cancel replacement eligibility and may add setup requirements or costs.
{% endhint %}

## Done when

* [ ] Your manager confirms the accounts are open
* [ ] You have your PayPal rep contact (HK setups)
* [ ] You have not changed anything yourself

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.basiq-solutions.com/guide/setup-steps/step-5-bank-and-payments.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
