# 7. Take over credentials

Move every account onto your own email, phone and 2FA within 3 weeks of delivery — in the right order.

{% hint style="info" %}
**You:** update credentials to your own within **3 weeks** of delivery. After 3 weeks you carry full responsibility for lost access, OTP delivery failures or restrictions caused by outdated details. Access data is not stored by Basiq beyond 2 months.
{% endhint %}

Use your company's dedicated number from [Step 2](/guide/setup-steps/step-2-phone-numbers.md) — one number for all services of the company, never your personal one.

## What to update and when

| Service        | What to update                                                                                         | When                        |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | --------------------------- |
| **WorldFirst** | Phone number → yours; email → yours ([WorldFirst Guide](/guide/guides/banks/worldfirst.md))            | After delivery              |
| **Airwallex**  | Phone number → yours; 2FA → yours ([Airwallex Guide](/guide/guides/banks/airwallex.md))                | After delivery              |
| **Wise**       | 2FA phone → yours ([Wise Guide](/guide/guides/banks/wise.md))                                          | After delivery              |
| **Mercury**    | Phone number → yours; email → yours; 2FA → yours ([Mercury Guide](/guide/guides/banks/mercury.md))     | After delivery              |
| **Currenxie**  | Phone number → yours; email → yours; 2FA → yours ([Currenxie Guide](/guide/guides/banks/currenxie.md)) | After delivery              |
| **Stripe** | Password, then 2FA — gradually, see below. Never the email | After first payout received |
| **PayPal** | Phone number | After first sale |

## Stripe: special rules

{% hint style="danger" %}

* **Never change your Stripe email** — the account will be flagged permanently.
* Do not change the password or 2FA device immediately after receiving the account.
* Do not change your Stripe password within 2 weeks of changing 2FA.
  {% endhint %}

After selfie verification, change Stripe credentials gradually — never both on the same day:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Change the password

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Wait 2–3 days, then change 2FA

Use your company's phone number.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Payouts

Set payouts to **Manual** from day one on all platforms **except Shopify Payments** — there, set payouts to **daily**. Payouts go to your business bank (WorldFirst / Airwallex / Wise / Mercury / Currenxie — see [Banks](/guide/guides/banks.md)) — never from the nominee account directly to your personal bank.

## Done when

* [ ] Bank accounts are on your phone / email / 2FA
* [ ] Stripe and PayPal changes are scheduled for after the first payout / first sale
* [ ] No two credentials were changed on the same day

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.basiq-solutions.com/guide/setup-steps/step-7-credentials.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
